With so many events happening around Perth every week, it’s safe to say I have my #eventready routine down pat! So here are some of my little secrets to prepping for the red carpet.
First, I need to fuel-up.
The West End Deli Cereal & Sandwich Bar is a hidden gem in the basement of the heritage listed Como The Treasury, but don’t worry it’s not fancy-schmancy.
You can unleash your inner-child and mix and match some of the best cereals from around the world. Legit. You can have up to four cereals in one bowl. Fruit Loops? Sure. Lucky Charms from the USA? Absolutely. You can even pick your fav milk to wash it down!
Your breaky’s sugar-high can then be perfectly balanced with their exclusive sooth & creamy coffee blend. It is the best coffee in the hood.
After breakfast, I’m usually in the editing suite or in meetings so for major events my lunch break is designated beauty time!
There are a number of fab make-up artists who work in stores throughout the CBD, Mecca on Hay Street and MAC at David Jones are my go-tos for a quick “I have to look a million bucks but I have to get the dog from daycare at five, and be on the red carpet at six!”
But once I'm looking a million bucks, I like to top it off, by dripping myself in incredible jewellery … and Kailis Pearls is where I go.
As a perk of the job, I get to wear stunning Kailis Australian South Sea Pearls and diamonds. I’ve worn them to some of the city’s biggest events including Telstra Perth Fashion Festival and last year’s inaugural ART BALL.
In fact, I’ve fallen so in love with some of their pieces I have some tucked away for my own wedding later in the year.
Events like store openings, art exhibitions and fashion shows are usually cocktail style, with a 6pm arrival and 9pm close… so that means I’m starving by the time they finish. Enter late-night eats that help soak up the bubbly!
I’m fussy about pizza… I don’t think the calories are worth it if it’s not a beautiful airy base with simple yet scrumptious toppings. Luckily, I attended the opening of Comet Pizza last year and it’s since become one of my fav post-event snack houses.
With its perfect little courtyard and wood fired ovens going until 10pm six night a week, it is our go-to on William Street.
Plus, The Hummus Club is next door if you’re not in the mood for pizza. But when does that ever happen?
